Dr. Ken Hoover, Professor of Biology at Jacksonville University, is conducting a research program designed to determine the optimum habitat and habitat management necessary for healthy populations of Sherman's fox squirrel. Jacksonville University students are selected to participate in this study each semester. | |||

| In the Spring of 1999, students Allison Griffin,
Cathy Smith, Susan Wilcox, Lisa Wilson, and Michelle Worley of the Department of Biology
and Marine Science at Jacksonville University participated in this study. Cathy
Smith is assisting in the study during the Fall, 1999, semester by helping other
students learn the techniques employed in the field. Cathy Smith - Vegetation Identification Lisa Wilson and Allison Griffin - Photodocumentation of nest identification Michelle Worley - Artistic displays of Study Areas Sue Wilcox - Quantitative Applications in the Field During the Fall, 1999, semester, Dr. Ken Hoover's Vertebrate Biology class at Jacksonville University participated in the study. All assisted in data collection on nest density, squirrel density and habitat characteristics. In addition, each student was responsible for one support project.
