The 14 story U.S. Courthouse,
located on Hogan Street between Duval and Monroe Streets, will open
in Jacksonville in the fall of 2002 and will employ 400 people (up
from the 200 people currently employed at the current Federal
Courthouse). The new Courthouse, which
will increase its size from 250,000 sq. ft to 400,000 sq. ft. and
include 8 district courts, 4 magistrate and bankruptcy courts and a
circuit court, is expected to bring many more agencies into the
building to create more efficient operations. According to the
Department of General Services, over 1,000 daily visitors are
expected at the Courthouse when it
opens in October 2002.
