Department Degree Programs Jacksonville University offers three degree programs. Entrance into these programs requires the completion of a successful audition. Bachelor of Music (B.M.) degree includes majors in performance (voice, wind/string/percussion instruments, organ, piano and piano accompanying) and in composition and theory. This professional program prepares students for careers in performance, private studio teaching, or for study toward advanced degrees. Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.) degree leads to certification to teach K-12 grade music in Florida and most other states. The music education curriculum contains a strong music concentration in any instrument or voice. Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree offers strong concentrations in applied music, music theory, music history, music business and music theatre within a liberal arts setting. A music minor is also available, and general music courses are open to all students. Jacksonville University is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Students who wish to enroll in music programs at Jacksonville University must first qualify for admission to the University.
